You arrive by Airplane direct from Santiago to the city of Castro, then you can take a bus, a taxi or we can arrange to pick you up at the airport and drive to Quellon. This town is located at 86 Km or 50 Miles (1 hour drive) from Castro City going by the Pan-American Highway. Arriving to Quellón port, you can cross to the island which is approximately 10km(6.3 miles)away from the coast. There are 3 ways of doing it, with the following times: 1) Boat: three times a week, boat tour, 40 minutes journey. 2) Taxi Nautica: same boat,40 minutes trip. 3) Fast motor boat: 8 to 10 minutes Depending location
Chiloe has its own culture full of myth and legends, from pirate stories to mythological creatures like “la Pincoya” that saves shipwreck sailors. The Chilotes (people from Chiloe) have kept their traditions, you can still be part of it by eating “Curanto con Chapalele” or just being part of a local celebration as “la Minga” where people move entire houses with the help of bulls.
